The
Tibet
Pende
Targye
Vocational
Technical
Welfare
School
was founded in April 2005, following the ¡°People¡¯s Republic of China
Regulations for Private Education¡± and ¡°City of
Lhasa
Private School Regulations¡±.
The
school¡¯s beneficiaries are primarily orphans, children with minor
disabilities, and children from destitute families. The program
comprises six years of residential study at the school. The six year
duration takes into account the difficulty level of the courses, the
time needed to master the craft, as well as regulatory demands.
The
school is not-for-profit and entirely free of charge for its students.
It provides for all of the students¡¯ room and board, clothing and
transportation, and the same for faculty and staff, along with salaries,
social security benefits and medical insurance.
The
students live and study in a rented six-story Tibetan-style house
located in Gongshanglian Xiaoqu on Zha Ji Xi Lu (Zha Ji West Road) in
Lhasa. It is in a safe neighborhood, and amenities are relatively
complete.¡¡
